How to Get on PR lists - Part 2

From a PR perspective
“How can I get on a PR list?” is one of the many questions I receive in my DM’s. It’s what prompted me to write this second piece on how to get on PR lists.
I’d like to share a few fresh tips on what upcoming bloggers and social media creatives can do to help them get on PR lists for their favourite brands.
- Pro-actively reach out to brands for PR giftings or sponsored post opportunities. And let the brand or PR know you love their products…if it’s the truth!
- Share with the brand or PR agency a time you’ve bought from them and shared it with your followers. Whether it’s a link to your blog post featuring the product or a screengrab of an Instagram post or story. They love to see their products in action and it also gives the brand a glimpse of your creative content.
- Reach out to brands within your niche for a better chance of getting on a PR list to receive giftings.
- Keep in mind brands are inundated with emails from PR’s, journalists, influencers and bloggers to test and trial the next big thing whether its make-up, skincare or snacks. So it’s perfectly okay to follow up at least a week from your first email if you haven’t heard back. Try again mid-week when things aren’t as crazy…like a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for sponsored opportunities. If a brand says they may have paid content creation opportunities in March, simply make a note in your calendar to contact them again with your media kit during that time. In the meantime, reach out to other brands you love within your niche.
- If you have featured a brand/product on Instagram stories, tag the brand in every clip to grab their attention! It will likely be re-posted, so you may gain new followers and impressions and hopefully a DM offering you a lovely PR package.
